More and more these days people are wanting to give special gifts to their loved ones that last. An experience is sometimes a more valuable gift than physical things, especially for those hard-to-shop-for people and family members who seem to already “have everything.”
Luckily, with The Family Cookbook, you get both an experience and an actual product!
As a quick reminder or introduction for first-time visitors, The Family Cookbook is a custom cookbook experience that documents you and your family cooking the foods you love with a relaxed photo session. Your family recipes are then put alongside your favorite photos resulting in an heirloom personalized cookbook.
Creating a custom cookbook is a marvelous way to organize a special day making memories with your family, since all you have to do is cook together, connect, and have fun while I capture all those moments. After you have sent me your recipes, you’ll get your beautiful cookbook that’s ready to be used. You’ll be able to cook your family recipes and relive those fun memories again and again.
Below is a handy guide for the holidays or any other special gifting occasion detailing how to make the most of your custom cookbook experience and how the process works.

Custom cookbook welcome Boxes
Probably the easiest way to actually give your Savor Cookbook gift experience to your loved one is with a the included welcome box. Since the holidays become such a hectic time, these boxes are perfect for the recipient to open on the big day without the pressure to schedule your photo session immediately. You’ll have an entire year to coordinate your family, personalize your photo session package, and book your photo session.
Welcome Boxes Include
A Savor Session Prep Guide with details about the experience and how to prepare for your photo session.
Various local Pacific Northwest goodies including spices, tea, textiles, candles, soaps, and kitchen items.
To make things as simple and easy as possible, your Savor package will be customized and finalized after you give your gift box. I’ll be in touch via email to book your session and help the process run smoothly.
While you have an entire year to book your photo session, I recommend booking it by late March. That way, your cookbook can arrive in time for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day!
Welcome boxes are customizable and are included with every package.
Giving your personalized family recipe book
Watching your loved one’s face as they unwrap your finished personalized cookbook is truly a priceless moment. It obviously won’t be much of a surprise, but flipping through the finished product is still so much fun. In order to have your cookbook ready to gift during the holidays, you will need to have your photo session and approve you book draft in the fall. I suggest families book their photo sessions at least two months before the actual session date, so prepare and plan according to this timeline:
Savor COOKBOOK HOLIDAY TIMELINE
In order to receive your cookbook in time for Christmas:
Your photo session must be held by October 28.
Your final cookbook draft must be approved by November 25.
In order to receive your cookbook in time for Hanukkah (dates change from year to year):
Your photo session must be held by October 8, 2020.
Your final cookbook draft must be approved by November 10, 2020.
The easiest thing to do is to have your photo session during the summer so you have plenty of time to choose your favorite images, organize your recipes, and look over the cookbook drafts I will send.
Have your cookbook photo session during the holidays
Since special holidays are natural times for families to come together, cook, and eat, having your photo session during holidays is a fun way to capture your memories organically. I’m happy to document your holiday food traditions. It might be the easiest way to create your custom cookbook since many families have loved ones visit from out of town during these times. But book your photo session early! The holiday season is busy for everyone, including me! So the sooner you get in touch, the better.
I hope this guide has been handy in helping you decide how to give your personalized cookbook as a holiday gift! Whether you choose the gift box route, giving the finished product, or holding a photo session for the holidays, I am happy to answer any and all questions about how your can preserve your family recipes and create new memories with Savor Custom Cookbooks.
